1. Cocogiri Island Resort – Vaavu Atoll

Sun Siyam Resorts, the creators of the five-star multi-award-winning Iru Fushi, announced a brand-new chapter, with the launch of revolutionary concept resort Siyam World. Truly innovative and unlike anything the Maldives has ever seen, Siyam World is expected to open around March 2021 as the very first multi-experiential resort. 3. Capella Maldives, Fari Islands – North Malé Atoll 

Capella Maldives finds synergy between authentic island life and the contemporary elements that make up the perfect escape from the every day. Designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and Hong Kong based interior designer André Fu, all 57 villas and mansions located on land or over water, are immersed in the beauty of the surrounding lagoon.

4. The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands – North Malé Atoll 

The Ritz-Carlton Maldives will be joining Marriott’s other stays including the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort and W Maldives, both American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts properties which are already dotted across the Maldives. The Ritz Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands is expected to range in size from one to three bedrooms, featuring the refined elegance and legendary service that define The Ritz-Carlton brand. The property is also expected to offer a choice of outstanding culinary venues serving an array of international and local cuisines, in addition to a full suite of fitness and recreational facilities including a signature Ritz-Carlton Spa.

5. Patina Maldives, Fari Islands – North Malé Atoll 

Patina Maldives, the second hotel at Fari Islands is designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan and is set to open with 110 beach suites, beach villas, and water villas that each feel like they’re own private sanctuary. Restaurants at Patina Maldives will focus on healthy food and green practices, so expect lots of vegan options. In terms of relaxation, guests will be able to while away a day at one of the outdoor pools (they’ve got plans for a watsu pool), the spa, or watch a film under the stars at the open-air cinema.

The Fari Islands consists of three resorts; the Ritz-Carlton, Capella Maldives, and Patina Maldives in addition to the Fari Marina. The resorts are expected to make debut in Q2, 2021.

6. The Chedi Kuda Villingili – Male’ Atoll 

GHM has announced plans to launch The Chedi Kudavillingili, its first resort in the Maldives. The 99-villa property will feature 36 overwater villas, a 150-metre-long central pool and desirable proximity to the Malé International Airport, a 25-minute speedboat ride away. This mixed-use resort development is said to feature 36 overwater villas and a 150m-long central pool. The resort is shaped by a global team of design talents working closely with the GHM team. Maldivian architecture anchors the resort’s overarching aesthetic appeal, with complementary interior design and landscaping from Singapore and a lighting scheme from the USA.

7. Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa – Lhaviyani Atoll 

Marriott International’s Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa will make its debut in February 2021. Nestled on the island of Thilamaafushi, set in a picturesque corner of Lhaviyani Atoll, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa is a scenic 35-minute seaplane journey over the sparkling atolls. Choose from 6 culinary experiences featuring a mix of global cuisines. 8. Madifushi Private Island – Meemu Atoll 

Naturally born 16-hector island is nestled in the Meemu Atoll, renowned for its abundant flora and fauna, including swimming with whale sharks and manta rays to sailing with dolphins at sunset, the resort is reached by 35-minutes picturesque seaplane flight over the atolls.

9. Tolarno Maldives Kunaavashi Resort – Vaavu atoll 

La Vie Hotels & Resort’s first Maldivian property – Tolarno Maldives Kunaavashi Resort was to make its debut late 2020 is located at Maldives’ best diving destination – Vaavu atoll and is accessible by 10-minute seaplane ride or 1-hour speedboat journey. The resort is said to feature works from Maldives’ very own artists in the public area as well as at each of its 72 villas. Gastronomic indulgence can also be found in the island resort’s 5 distinctive food and beverage outlets.

10. Gran Meliá Huravee – Thaa Atoll 

The Gran Meliá Maldives is located in Kalhudhiyafushi, Thaa Atoll, an idyllic location in Maldives. Thaa Atoll is located 40 minutes from Velana International Airport via speedboat, though a combination of a short seaplane and speedboat ride option is also available. The island hosts all the facilities while the villas are placed over the water. 13. Zazz Escapes Maldives Resort – South Ari Atoll

Thailand’s Unicorn Hospitality is to make debut in the Maldives with the Zazz Escapes Maldives Resort in 2021. ZAZZ Island is an adult-focused beach resort, offering efficient, friendly service to a millennial-focused customer base coming from the leading cities. Located 35 mins seaplane ride away from Male International Airport or 1h 45 mins by speed boat, the resort is currently under construction.
