Maldives has recorded a total of 144,725 tourist arrivals during November 2021. This breaks the record for the monthly tourist arrivals for Maldives so far.
As per the latest figures published by the Ministry of Tourism, November saw an incredible number of tourist arrivals. Since July 2021, tourist arrivals have steadily been increasing with Maldives achieving one million tourist arrivals on 29th October 2021. By the end of November 2021, the total number of arrivals to Maldives reached 1.16 million, inching closer towards the yearly target arrivals of 1.3 million tourists.
Daily arrivals during November remained at an average above 4,800 with an average stay of 8 nights.
Tourist arrivals were recorded at 1,162,425 on 1st December 2021 which is a 152.1% increase from the slow arrivals recorded in 2020 due to closing of borders of the Maldives. Tourist arrivals in 2021 however, shows a decrease of 24.4% in comparison to the arrivals recorded during the same period in 2019, a record-breaking year for Maldives tourism.
India remains the top market for Maldives tourism currently dominating 22.5% with 261,164 arrivals. Russia follows closely at second contributing 17.7% with 205,246 tourists. Third comes Germany contributing 7.2% with 83,817 arrivals. Other top markets include U.S.A, U.K, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Ukraine, France and Switzerland.
Tourist arrivals in 2021 started to bounce back with the easing of travel restrictions as well as safety measures against Covid-19 implemented in the Maldives.
