Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives, has achieved its fourth consecutive green globe certification.
Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives, is committed to environmental and socio-cultural sustainability. As a Maldives eco-friendly resort, they strive to emulate international best practices in sustainable hospitality and improve ecological and socio-cultural sustainability performance.
The resort island is part of a sensitive coral reef ecosystem with abundant marine species – including nationally protected species such as corals, turtles, sharks, dolphins, and lobsters. The terrestrial island ecosystem also has protected fauna, such as several bird species.
An appointed resort sustainability “Green Team” has the responsibility and skills to ensure effective ongoing environmental and sociocultural sustainability measures are in place and performance monitored. They also employ a Sustainability Manager who engages guests and staff on the resort’s natural ecosystems and carries out underwater conservation and restoration work of the resort’s coral reef ecosystem.

Green Globe is the premier sustainability certification and performance improvement program developed specifically for the travel and tourism industry. It provides organizations with a framework to conduct a comprehensive assessment of their sustainability performance, through which they can monitor improvements and obtain certification.
