Maldives Government issues statement on Thomas Cook insolvency

The Maldives Government issues a statement assuring travellers and the travel industry that the necessary precautions have been put in place to minimize disruption as much as possible to holidaymakers travelling with Thomas Cook. The Maldives Ministry of Tourism and the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) will be working closely together to provide the best possible support for these tourists on their return journey.

The Maldives authorities have contacted all resort partners to confirm the number of Thomas Cook travellers currently staying in the Maldives and to determine their return destination. Velana International Airport is operating as usual and measures have been put in place with the aim of easing the situation for holidaymakers waiting to return home. Efforts will be made to provide food, assistance and accommodation if required. In this context, those affected are asked to approach the designated service of the staff on site.
