Upon an invitation by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), a team of journalists from the UK has arrived in the Maldives.
The purpose of this trip is to promote the sustainable tourism of Maldives, promote the local experiences and feature the products of Maldives in the UK.
This is the 14th group to arrive in the Maldives as part of a series of familiarization trips organized by MMPRC. The aim of these trips is to further increase the exposure for the destination in the international markets. The team is expected to visit both local islands and resorts from 1st October 2019 to 7th October 2019.
The team will be staying in Coco Bodu Hithi, Furaveri Island Resort & Spa and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. In this trip, the team would experience the initiatives of sustainable tourism in the resorts, the Maldivian culture, food and the vibrant, underwater beauty of the country.
The team is comprised of writers from well-renowned publications such as Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, Stoke Park, House of Coco, The Travel Magazine and Harbor Chelsea Club. Their experiences would be featured as articles and photographs in their respective publications in the UK.
Based on the tourist arrival figures this year, the UK remains amongst the top 10 source markets for the Maldives. It’s ranked as the 5th biggest source, with 7.3% of the market share.
The number of arrivals was recorded as 83,089 from January to August 2019 which is a 10.5% increase from the same period of 2018. Through the series of FAM trips, MMPRC intends to reach wider audiences in these markets to promote the Maldives.
