Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has officially commenced direct flights between Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital, and the Maldives. The airlines’ first flight from Baku to the Maldives landed at 9:45 AM yesterday, launching the new direct route from Baku to the Maldives.
The Maldives warmly greeted the airline with a welcoming ceremony, which was attended by key officials, including Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Managing Director and CEO of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), alongside other important individuals.
According to Mohamed Mihad, Chief Commercial Officer of MACL, the launch of this new route improves transportation links and the travel experience for tourists. He also highlighted the service would significantly enhance the Maldives’ connectivity, offering more convenient travel options for those travelling from Azerbaijan.
Jamil Manizade, Chief Commercial Officer of Azerbaijan Airlines, explained that the new route’s timing with the winter season makes it particularly convenient for Azerbaijani tourists travelling to a warm destination like the Maldives.
The new route offers two weekly flights, with tickets available for purchase through Azerbaijan Airlines’ website, mobile app, and AZAL ticket offices. These direct flights are aimed at providing a faster and more hassle-free travel experience for those travelling to the Maldives.
