COMO Cocoa Island Promotes Abdulla Wisam as Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms

COMO Cocoa Island has announced the promotion of Abdulla Wisam to Executive Assistant Manager Rooms, effective from 1st December 2024. This promotion honours Wisam’s remarkable leadership and his relentless commitment to delivering excellence, consistently elevating standards and contributing to the continued success of the resort.

Wisam’s promotion recognises his remarkable contributions throughout 2024, particularly his role in leading the team on the island in the absence of both a General Manager and Resident Manager. His ability to ‘hold the fort’ while maintaining operational excellence has been pivotal to the success of COMO Cocoa Island. Furthermore, Wisam’s efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the resort consistently received excellent online reviews, planned and executed two successful island buyouts, and achieved outstanding Quality Assurance (QA) scores exceeding 94%, surpassing the previous year’s performance.

Peter Nilsson, Managing Director – Maldives, expressed his congratulations:

“I am delighted to announce the promotion of Abdulla Wisam from Director of Rooms to Executive Assistant Manager – Rooms. His leadership in the absence of a GM/RM, coupled with outstanding guest feedback, successful island buyouts, and impressive QA scores, has made this promotion well-deserved. We wish him continued success.”

Wisam’s journey in the hospitality industry spans over a decade, with roles across some of the most prestigious resorts in the Maldives. Starting his career as a restaurant waiter in 2004, he quickly progressed through various positions, culminating in leadership roles at renowned resorts such as Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, The St. Regis Maldives, and Raffles Maldives. In 2021, he joined COMO Cocoa Island as Front Office Manager, and his dedication led to his promotion to Director of Rooms. Since early 2024, Wisam has been overseeing operations at COMO Cocoa Island, ensuring a seamless guest experience in the absence of a GM.

During his tenure, Wisam implemented key initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction, from personalising guest experiences to promoting sustainability through eco-friendly practices. His commitment to continuous improvement and fostering strong relationships has been integral to his success.

Looking ahead, Wisam envisions further growth within the industry, with goals to advance his expertise in customer service, digital marketing, and sustainability. As he transitions into his new role, his leadership will continue to drive COMO Cocoa Island’s success.
