The Ministry of Finance has revealed that the government has earned MVR 1.3 billion from resort lease payments.
According to the weekly fiscal development report by the Ministry, MVR 1.8 billion has been budgeted as resort lease payments. However so far in the year 2019, they have earned MVR 1.3 billion.
As per the report, the government has collected MVR 4.4 billion as tourism GST during this period while the forecast was for MVR 5 billion.
The tourism ministry statistics show that there are 150 resorts operating as of now. The year 2019 has witnessed an additional 20 new resorts in the Maldives.
