Speaking at the press conference held at the President’s office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid has announced that direct flights between Maldives and China has been suspended due to the coronavirus.
The press conference was jointly held by the Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed, Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
Minister Ali Waheed announced that the national airline Maldivian itself was to welcome over 950 tourists from China, however all these bookings have now been canceled.
The Minister also highlighted that the decision was made after discussions with the industry stakeholders.
