Chinese tourist arrivals to the Maldives have surpassed the 90,000 mark, according to data released by the Ministry of Tourism. As of May 13th, 2024, total tourist arrivals to the Maldives have soared to 830,665.
The latest statistics from the Ministry highlight the dominance of the Chinese market, which continues to hold the top position.
Following closely behind China is Russia, securing its place as the second-largest market for Maldivian tourism. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom claims the third spot.
The top 10 markets for tourist arrivals to the Maldives are as follows:
1. China – 92,292
2. Russia – 84,055
3. UK – 79,507
4. Italy – 73,214
5. Germany – 65,198
6. India – 46,970
7. France – 31,229
8. USA – 29,132
9. Switzerland – 20,865
10. Poland – 16,872
This surge in tourist arrivals represents an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year when arrivals stood at 742,912.
The Maldives continues to attract visitors from around the globe, reaffirming its status as a premier destination for luxury travel and tropical getaways.
