Diamonds Thudufushi and Mars, Incorporated Launches Pioneering Coral Restoration Initiative

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Diamonds Thudufushi and MARS have set new benchmarks in coral reef restoration, achieving remarkable success in their pilot restoration project in the Maldives.

Inspired by MARS’s extensive work globally, where they successfully increased coral cover and marine life dramatically through their innovative Reef Stars technology, Diamonds Thudufushi embarked on a similar mission.

In September 2023, the resort initiated its project, installing 203 Reef Stars, and witnessing a 99% success rate in coral survival. This venture aims to mitigate beach erosion but also revitalise marine biodiversity, creating a thriving habitat for numerous aquatic species.

Building on this triumph, Diamonds Thudufushi plans to amplify its efforts in October 2024 by introducing 1003 Reef Stars. This ambitious expansion aims to further enrich the marine ecosystem and safeguard the natural beauty of the Maldives for future generations.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment to sustainable ocean management and highlights the potential of collaborative efforts in marine conservation. Diamonds Thudufushi and MARS continue to lead by example, demonstrating that through innovation and community engagement, the tide can indeed turn in favor of coral reef restoration.
