IndiGo Airlifts Over 2000 Passengers, Final Repatriation Flight On 6th July

IndiGo has helped airlift over 2,000 Indians who have been stranded in Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline is going to operate its final repatriation flight on 6th July 2020.

This charter flight to Tamil Nadu, India is arranged by IndiGo in response to a number of requests for a flight to the south, the airlines said. Passengers traveling to the following destinations will be allowed to fly on this flight:

  • Madurai
  • Trichy
  • Trivandrum
  • Cochin

IndiGo has operated a total of 13 repatriation flights from Maldives in June 2020. The airline carried 2,169 Indians marooned in Maldives due to the travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic.

“We are very happy to have helped the families in returning home to their loved ones during this difficult time,” a representative from the airline said.

In addition to this, IndiGo has also operated three international cargo flights carrying over 50 tonnes of cargo, including pharmaceutical products, fruits and vegetables, to and from Maldives.
