GDh. Hoadedhoo Council has announced a highly attractive investment opportunity—the lease and development of Kandevarehaa Island (4.6 hectares) located in Gaaf Dhaal Atoll, Maldives. This pristine, uninhabited island is available for lease for the development of a luxury integrated tourist resort, which aligns perfectly with the Maldives’ reputation for high-end, world-class tourism.
The 4.6-hectare island, under the administration of the Hoadedhoo Council, offers a remarkable opportunity for resort development in the area.
As per the official announcement gazetted on September 24, 2024, both local and foreign parties eligible to develop a resort are invited to submit their expression of interest for the project. The bidding documents will be available for purchase from 9:00am to 1:00pm on all days except government holidays, until November 17, 2024.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled to take place virtually via Zoom at 1:00pm on 15th October 2024, where more detailed information will be provided to interested parties. Those wishing to participate in this session are required to email the Council at info@hoandedhdhoo.gov.mv with their name, email address, and phone number before 2:00pm on October 13, 2024.
The final deadline for submitting proposals is 1:30 PM on November 24, 2024. Interested parties may reach out to the Hoadedhoo Council via email for any further questions or clarifications.
Kan’devarehaa is located in close proximity to Hoadedhoo, within the same lagoon, making it an ideal site for tourism development. This is not the first time the island has been considered for resort development; the Ministry of Tourism previously sought developers for the island in 2021.
The Council’s move to seek developers for Kan’devarehaa aligns with the broader efforts to boost tourism and economic development in the region.
