The East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (EMITT) is one the biggest travel trade shows in the East Mediterranean region. It provides a significant platform to promote the Maldives brand as the most preferred holiday destination in the East Mediterranean region. With improved direct connectivity with the Maldives, the potential of the market is growing day by day as arrival numbers also continue to increase. Participation in this event is aligned with MMPRC’s strategies in targeting the source markets and strengthening the destination presence. It provides numerous opportunities for industry partners to showcase their individual products, services, and experiences available in the Sunny Side of Life.
EMITT is exhibited by major tourism representatives from all over the world, showcasing their unique products and services to the Turkish market. During the event, MMPRC aims to connect with different agents and buyers where information about the major segments of the destination is disseminated.
The Turkish market holds immense potential for the Maldives. In 2023, it was ranked 24th as a source market with 12,856 tourist arrivals. It is important to note that the inaugural official visit by the President of the Maldives, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, was to Türkiye, further aiding in improved bilateral ties between the two nations. This marks a pivotal moment in the bilateral relationship between the nations, with the visit laying the groundwork for a multifaceted partnership, solidified by the signing of trade-focused agreements promising shared prosperity. This includes improved flight connectivity between the two nations to further facilitate the arrival of tourists from the burgeoning market.
MMPRC aims to consistently promote the Sunny Side of Life in the Turkish market. The upcoming marketing activities include campaigns with major tour operators, media press familiarisation trips and campaigns with prominent publications.
