Paradise Island Resort has won the “Leading Meeting and Conference Hotel/Resort” for the second year at the South Asian Travel Awards.
Set in North Male Atoll, this relaxed island resort is ringed by white-sand beaches and surrounded by its own lagoon. Airy, upscale rooms with simple decor have open-air showers, private verandas leading onto the beach, and flat-screen TVs. Wi-Fi is available. Upgraded rooms are set over the water and have sundecks with stairs to the sea, and hot tubs. Luxe suites add separate lounges and private pools. Some have extra bedrooms. There are 6 informal restaurants serving cuisines including Italian and Japanese. There are also 5 casual bars, a disco, a gym and a spa. Water sports such as sailing and diving are available (fee).
The resort has virtually everything needed to host a full range of functions and incentive trips – from theme parties to awards and banquets to training seminars. The conference facilities include video conferencing, projection screen, multimedia projector, LCD TVs, PA system, wireless internet access, slide projector, OHP and digital audio.
The fourth edition of SATA was hosted by the Amari Galle from September 19-20.
Over 500 travel and tourism businesses operating in the South Asian region were nominated for this year’s edition of the awards. Voting for the nominees closed in July, whilst nominee evaluations were conducted by a four-member jury in major cities in the region, including Colombo, Bangalore, New Delhi, Kathmandu and Dhaka.
