Pullman Maldives Maamutaa Resort has arranged a series of repatriation speedboats for its local staff amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a theme, “You will leave, but you will be back soon. Stay Safe.”, the resort revealed that they organized these trips so that their local staff can be with their families during these uncertain times.
A total of 56 staff were returned back to their islands on 14th April 2020. The speedboats were arranged as follows:
Pullman to Gan and Fuvahmulah
10:00am departure from Pullman Jetty – 24 Heartists
Pullman to Villingili
11:00am departure from Pullman Jetty – 14 Heartists
Pullman to Maamendhoo and Dhaandhoo
12:00pm departure from Pullman jetty – 10 Heartists
Pullman to Kolamaafushi and Thinadhoo
02:00pm departure from Pullman jetty – 8 Heartists
In addition to this, 30 locals from Mercure Maldives Kooddoo were also taken back to their islands.
All staff were gifted with box of chocolates upon departure from the resorts.
The tourism industry have almost come to a halt in the Maldives due to the travel ban implemented by the government to mitigate the spread of the virus. The staff at remaining resorts are required to quarantine for 14 days from the date the last guest checks out.
