With over 24 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, Nasru brings a wealth of expertise, having contributed significantly to the success of 10 luxury resorts in the Maldives and one in Seychelles.
A seasoned sales leader, Nasru’s career is marked by his instrumental role in the successful opening of several high-profile resorts in the Maldives, where his efforts have expanded their global reach and raised their market profile. His strategic vision, coupled with a keen understanding of both local and international markets, has made him a key figure in elevating brands to new heights.
Nasru’s journey in the industry began in 2000 at Sun Island Resort & Spa (Villa Park), where he started as a Reservations Agent. Over the next decade, he honed his expertise across reservations, sales, and front office operations, ultimately rising to the position of Assistant Reservations Manager. Alongside his professional growth, Nasru earned his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Hospitality & Tourism Management from University College Birmingham, laying a strong foundation for his future achievements.
In 2010, Nasru took a significant step forward in luxury hospitality, joining Anantara Kihavah Villas as Assistant Reservations Manager during the resort’s preopening phase. His contributions were essential to the seamless launch of the property. Building on this success, he excelled in various roles, including Reservations Manager at Huvafen Fushi and Sales Manager at Niyama Maldives, where he also served as Cluster Senior Sales Manager for Per Aquum Hotels. In 2016, Nasru took on the role of Director of Sales at Amilla Fushi, contributing significantly to the successful opening of Finolhu Maldives under The Small Maldives Island Co (TSMIC).
Nasru’s success continued at Baros Maldives, where in 2017, he became the first Maldivian Director of Sales, leading the rebranding of this iconic resort and earning significant recognition for his leadership. His expertise in preopening strategies was further demonstrated in his role as Director of Sales at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi in 2019, where he played a crucial part in the resort’s successful launch. He also contributed to Patina Maldives, Fari Islands, ensuring a smooth opening and a strong market presence.
In 2022, Nasru joined JA Resorts & Hotels as Director of Business Development – Indian Ocean, where he was instrumental in driving business growth for JA Manafaru, Maldives, and JA Enchanted Island, Seychelles. His innovative sales strategies, coupled with his ability to forge strong international relationships, played a significant role in expanding the resorts’ business, especially in high-value markets across Europe, Russia, and beyond.
