Bandos Maldives Geared Up for International Housekeeping Week 2024
The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, a proud flagbearer of Maldivian cuisine, has unveiled its first-ever wine pairing event. Held in collaboration with Grape Expectations, the leader in wine and bar education and consulting in the Maldives, the exclusive evening marks the beginning of the resort’s new wine-focused series. Guests can look forward to a guided tasting of exquisite vintages led by guest sommelier Jordan Dobie from Cape Town, South Africa, followed by a sumptuous dinner prepared by the resort’s Executive Chef, Nandakumar Dharuman.
To match The Standard’s playful spirit, Dobie’s wine list for the night will champion vibrant European and Australian labels, while the four-course dinner will focus on elevated fare such as seafood bruschetta with lobster, slow-roasted veal loin with osso buco ravioli, and Brittany sablé with blackberries and raspberry compote for dessert.
Jordan Dobie’s passion for oenology blossomed in his native South Africa, leading him to prestigious estates in the Western Cape. Meanwhile, Chef Dharuman, a three-time top gold medalist in the Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge Maldives in 2016 and 2018, specializes in fusion and molecular cuisine.

This will be a monthly event at The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, starting from August 2024 onwards. The next event will be on September 15 and 16, 2024.
