Tourism now needs to be linked with culture, said Mr. Graeme D’Arcy Ryan, Hotels Area Manager for South India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives at Booking.com, at the TTM Travel Summit while giving a speech on Travel Predictions for 2019.
During the Summit, he spoke on the importance of culture when it comes to peaking visitors interest in the country. Culture and traditions play a huge role in the reasons why tourists travel, as a foreign experience. Graeme D’Arcy Ryan further explains that the trends now show that destinations with more culture related activities now attract a greater amount of visitors.
He also stated that visitors are looking for a guilt-free holiday which actually means that they actually want to participate in activities such as beach clean-ups and try to practice eco-friendly and sustainable methods of tourism themselves.
TTM Travel Summit was held at Bandos Maldives on 11th June 2019 and had several important speakers give insight on the theme “Travel Tech and Analytics” in their respective fields. The Summit was held as a component of the third edition of the largest Travel and Trade show in Maldives, Travel Trade Maldives (TTM).
