To launch the first edition of the annual event, Pullman Maldives also invited 2 guest chefs – Chef Mode and Chef Shaazy – to bring the best-hidden secrets from Traditional and Modern Maldivian Cuisine.

Chef Mode – Traditional Maldivian Cuisine

Born in the beautiful island of Kanduhulhudhoo, belonging to Huvadhoo Atoll in the Maldivian archipelago, Chef Mode found his passion for food at a young age after missing his parents as a source of happiness. After experimenting with different cuisine, flavors and spices, he realized food was his true calling.

Throughout the years, Chef Mode has built up his confidence and expertise with Traditional Maldivian dishes and supported local talents and producers. Today, with multiple years of experience working side by side with talented chefs in prestigious resorts, Chef Mode has become an iconic local gastronomy referent and his very unique style can be reflected on his creations and his restaurant located in Hulhumale’.

Chef Shaazy – Pastry Artist

Born and raised in Feevah, in the Shaviyani Atoll in Maldives, she is a daughter of a baker who owned a popular bakery shop in early 1985. Following her passion for baking and cooking which began at a very young age, Shaazy first started home baking in 2003.

As she became more interested in learning new techniques and expanding her knowledge in decorating and modern desserts, she joined her first culinary classes at Lanka International Hotel School in Sri Lanka.

Shaazy made her dream became a reality when she opened her own pastry shop and she was also appointed as an Exco member for Chefs Guild of Maldives (CGM) – the first non-profit-making association, for chefs working in the Maldives, dedicated to the advancement of the culinary art of the Maldives.

During her culinary career, Shaazy has also took place in various internship programs at Bandos Maldives, Fushifaru Maldives and Vakkaru Maldives. Chef Shaazy is currently working as a demi chef de party at Hardrock Hotel Maldives, where she brings all her years of expertise to life with a very artistic approach.
