Recent research conduct by Skift; U.S. Affluent Traveler Survey 2019 which has combined the reports from the previous two years, show drastic change among the market and where to focus in order to stay ahead of the competition.
Looking at the trends, the majority of U.S. travelers have cut down on their dependency on travel agents and rather enjoys doing the research and booking by themselves. Over 15% larger share of travelers with children have preferred alternatives stays than those without children. Moreover, the expenditure of U.S. with children are most of the time above $200 in accommodation and there is a rise in international travel trend.
The Maldives being a family destination which caters to families as well as for honeymooners and groups, this would be an interesting area for niche markets. In the foreseeable future, a rise of visitors from the U.S. could be possible.
